Intros

Okay, on to what should have been my first post: the intro! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Ericka. This is me. I'm 31 years old. I'm married to my best friend, Chad, and we have a son. EDV is almost 3 and keeps me on my toes!
Now, the reason for this blog. See, my husband's parents got a great idea for them and all of their kids - hubby, his 2 brothers, and their wives - on vacation all together. We planned to stay in a condo owned by hubby's younger brother's inlaws, which is in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! We currently live in WI which means that we'll have to fly there. Just the thought of flying terrifies me, but the thought of having to buy another seat due to my size, or worse, not being able to go at all because of my size, scares me even more. So, in order to make sure I get to Mexico, I better work for it!
Oh yeah. I also started realizing my pants weren't fitting as well. And I had no energy.
and my job is doing in-home daycare. So lack of energy doesn't really work with my job. And I saw my sister in law's post on FB about Zumba, and decided to invite myself along. I'm so glad I did! I haven't been able to go to Zumba in a couple of days, but tomorrow morning I will be there! Uncoordinated and out of shape, but there.
I went and got my meds yesterday and got back on them this morning. I have definitely noticed the increased energy and motivation! Even though I'm not working out at Zumba, I'm still moving: did the dishes, scrubbed the counters, cleaned the stove's drip trays, bleached the trash cans, and washed the kitchen walls! Still to come is sweeping, mopping and hanging out clothes on the line. I better get going!

First steps

Hi all, this new blog is to record my weight loss journey. As of today, I weigh 316lbs - a horrific weight, especially considering that I have not been this heavy since I was pregnant with Evan - 3 years ago!
So, I took a picture of myself to get the process started. This is me.
Not real flattering, huh? So I've decided to make some changes in my day to become healthier.
For starters, I have given up drinking soda. Mt. Dew and Coke were my beverages of choice - my last soda was July 11th. Fridays are my cheat days where I allow myself to have 2 cans/1 20oz bottle of soda or a large Coke from McDonald's. I really miss those large Cokes!
I also have started taking Zumba classes with my sister in law Debbie. So glad she got me started, I am really enjoying classes! I've taken 2 so far but plan to take many more!
My next step is to resume taking a medication I quit taking for a while. It gives me more focus, energy, and self control and impulse control.
A high-tech scale will be my next purchase, so I can keep track of my weight loss. Experts say you should aim for 10% of your weight at a time, right? Well, here I come 284lbs!
